Why the answer is A, and why the others tempt you.
Volume of cone = (1/3)πr²h, so 1232 = (1/3) × (22/7) × 14² × h = (1/3) × (22/7) × 196 × h = (1/3) × 616h. Therefore h = (1232 × 3) / 616 = 3696 / 616 = 6 cm. Candidates who omit the factor of 1/3 would get 2 cm, while arithmetic errors lead to the other distractors.
