On the day of Pentecost, when the disciples spoke in tongues and were accused of being drunk, Peter stood up and quoted Joel 2:28-32 to explain what was happening (Acts 2:14-21). He declared that the outpouring of the Spirit on all flesh was the fulfilment of Joel's prophecy. This passage is one of the most significant Old Testament prophecies quoted in the New Testament.
