Using the work-energy theorem: Net work done = change in KE. F × d = ½mv² - 0. Therefore d = mv²/(2F) = (1000 × 20²)/(2 × 2000) = 400,000/4,000 = 100 m. Option A results from using d = mv/F, option C from using d = mv²/F (forgetting the factor of ½), and option D from using d = mv²/F with an arithmetic error.
