Why the answer is B, and why the others tempt you.
**The reasoning**
When you see 0.6, read it aloud: "six-tenths" or "zero point six." That verbal clue tells you it equals **6/10** straight away.
But the question asks for *lowest terms*, meaning we must simplify. Find the highest common factor (HCF) of 6 and 10:
- Factors of 6: 1, 2, 3, 6
- Factors of 10: 1, 2, 5, 10
- HCF = 2
Divide both numerator and denominator by 2:
$$\frac{6}{10} = \frac{6 \div 2}{10 \div 2} = \frac{3}{5}$$
**Why the wrong options tempt you**
- **A) 6/10** — This is correct but *not simplified*. The question specifically wants lowest terms, so this is incomplete.
- **C) 2/3** — Looks simple and clean, but 2/3 = 0.666... (repeating), not 0.6 exactly.
- **D) 1/6** — Totally different value (approximately 0.167). Students might confuse digits.
**Quick takeaway**
Always convert the decimal to a fraction first, then simplify by dividing top and bottom by their HCF—"lowest terms" means no common factors remain except 1.
